Purpose of the role
The HR Specialist provides operational HR support across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance with UK employment law, and high‑quality service delivery. Although based in Scotland, the role will also support HR activities for the team located in London and will contribute to Group HR initiatives as part of a connected international HR community. This role offers plenty of exposure to all areas of human resources and would be a great opportunity for an ambitious team player willing to fast‑track their professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, contracts, and documentation in line with GDPR requirements
- Coordinate updates for payroll and ensure smooth monthly processing
- Support with HR cost controlling for the UK
- Prepare HR correspondence, employment contracts, and onboarding materials
- Manage recruitment for junior and mid‑level positions, coordinating job postings, CV screening, and interview logistics
- Deliver an effective onboarding experience for new hires across both the Scotland and London teams
- Act as a first point of contact for employee queries, policies, procedures, and basic employee relations matters
- Support case management activities including probation reviews and attendance processes under the guidance of senior HR colleagues
- Provide consistent HR support to line managers and employees across both Scotland and London
- Ensure local execution of policies while maintaining alignment with UK- and Group-wide practices
- Organise training sessions and maintain training and development records
- Support the rollout and coordination of Group initiatives
- Assist with cyclical HR activities including performance reviews, salary review inputs, and workforce reporting
- Support local engagement actions and contribute to Group HR programmes such as reward, wellbeing, culture, diversity & inclusion, and internal communications
- Collaborate with Group HR colleagues to ensure alignment of local implementation with global HR strategy
- Act as backup for HR administrative tasks in other countries when needed
- Own Group administrative processes and contribute to local or Group projects as instructed by line manager
- Any other tasks as needed by the HR team
Required skills and or qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related discipline
- Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards qualification
- Working knowledge of UK employment law
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy, confidentiality, and good communication skills
- Experience with HRIS platforms. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Basic understanding of HR metrics and reporting
Work locations & Reporting Line
Our offices in central Edinburgh. Some travel in Scotland and England may be required. Reporting to the Reward & Organisational Development Group Manager.
Compensation
£27,000 - £30,000 per annum based on experience, 40 hours per week. Up to £3,000 variable incentive target, based on performance. 33 days including.
