RORA is expanding, which means we’re hiring a FinOps (Finance Operations) Lead to innovate, streamline, and scale finance operations across multiple startups.
Meet RORA
RORA builds fractional finance teams for startups and scaleups, giving you access to some of the most exciting and innovative businesses in the world. We offer the security of being an employee, the variety of contracting, and the support and development opportunities of a big firm.
The Role
As a FinOps Lead, you’ll be embedded within partner companies, working directly with founders and the C-suite. You\’ll streamline processes, ensure finance and accountancy fundamentals are in place, automate where possible to improve efficiency and accuracy, and support overall business growth.
Scope of Work
- Manage finance operations, establish best-in-class processes, build scenario-based financial models, and apply strong accountancy and finance expertise across bookkeeping, billing, statutory accounts, VAT, EMI options, and CAP table management. While direct reports handle many accountancy tasks, you’ll need a solid grasp of financial controls, processes, and tools.
- Lead finance teams across the UK and India, facilitate weekly L&D sessions, and provide mentorship and career growth opportunities.
- Implement tech solutions, finance apps, and automate processes wherever possible.
- Support 2 to 4 partners simultaneously, managing multiple expectations due to the fractional nature of each contract.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years in finance, with experience in a senior finance role.
- Solid experience in the startup space (series A preferred), with tech or e-commerce experience highly desirable.
- Educational credentials such as ACA or CIMA are preferred; candidates partway through these qualifications are also considered.
- Strong understanding of effective finance operations in smaller startups or scaleups.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and priorities.
- Experience partnering with operations, HR, sales, marketing, or other functions beyond finance.
- Familiarity with cloud-based financial software like Xero (preferred) and tools like Dext and Pleo. Knowledge of an ideal finance tech stack for startups is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Ideal Candidate Not for You If…
- You’re only interested in strategic work; we do both strategic and operational tasks.
- Leading teams isn’t your preference; we value coaching and mentoring.
- You\’re seeking a fully remote role; our leads are expected to be onsite in London 1-2 times per week.
