About the Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home. You will support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, lead shifts, guide staff, and help ensure that high standards of care are maintained at all times. You will be someone who leads by example, remains calm under pressure, and genuinely cares about improving outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading shifts and supporting the staff team on duty
  • Providing guidance, supervision and support to residential support workers
  • Creating a safe, warm and structured environment for young people
  • Supporting care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
  • Promoting positive routines, boundaries and relationships
  • Completing daily records, reports, handovers and incident documentation to a high standard
  • Supporting young people with education, independence, emotional wellbeing and daily living skills
  • Helping ensure the home meets safeguarding, Ofsted and internal quality standards
  • Working closely with managers, professionals, families and external agencies
  • Acting as a positive role model for both staff and young people

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Experience working in a children's residential care setting

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins where required
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it

Previous experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or similar role would be an advantage.
