About Us

At Joinery Solutions SW Ltd, we are passionate about high-quality timber windows and doors and the character they bring to homes across the South West. From our workshop in Torquay, we design and manufacture bespoke timber sash windows, casement windows, entrance doors and door sets for both period and contemporary properties. All of our products are manufactured in-house, giving us complete control over quality from design through to installation and allowing us to confidently stand behind every job we complete. Known for our attention to detail, craftsmanship and friendly service, we are expanding our installation team and looking for an experienced Timber Sash Window & Door Fitter to join us.

Main Purpose of the Role

As a Timber Sash Window & Door Fitter, you will work in customers' homes and on selected sites, carrying out high-quality installation, replacement, and restoration of timber sash windows, casement windows and doors. The role involves both solo work and team-based projects, so you’ll need strong attention to detail, respect for customers' homes, and clear communication with both clients and the office/workshop team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install newly manufactured timber sash windows, casement windows, entrance doors and frames to a high standard.
  • Carefully remove existing windows and doors, protecting the clients' property and ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Carry out on-site adjustments, minor repairs and finishing work to ensure smooth operation, security and weather-tightness.
  • Apply draught-proofing and sealing systems as part of both replacement and upgrade projects where required.
  • Read and work from drawings, schedules and installation specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and professional work environment in customers' homes at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, keeping them informed of progress and any issues.
  • Liaise with the office and workshop team to report site conditions, variations, and completion details.
  • Use a range of traditional hand tools and modern power tools safely and effectively.
  • Complete basic site paperwork or digital job records (e.g. photos, notes on a tablet/phone) to close out each job.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience fitting timber windows and doors, ideally including sash windows in period properties.
  • Strong carpentry/joinery background and confident use of hand and power tools.
  • Good understanding of sash window components (boxes, sashes, balances/weights, ironmongery) and traditional joinery methods.
  • High level of attention to detail, tidy working practices and pride in the finish.
  • Able to work independently on smaller jobs and as part of a team on larger installations.
  • Comfortable working in occupied homes, with a professional and respectful manner.

Requirements

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent experience (preferred but not essential).
  • CSCS card (preferred or willingness to obtain).

What We Provide

  • Company van for business use only fully equipped with Apple car play, air con, and essential tools.
  • Quality tools and power tools provided or tool allowance (to be agreed).
  • Ipad for job tracking and communication.
  • Company pension, 28 Days Holiday, free on-site parking and discretionary bonus scheme.
  • Friendly, professional and supportive team culture with a focus on craftsmanship and customer care.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be joining a skilled and growing team with a strong local reputation for quality timber windows and doors.
