About the role

Pay Range

£75k-£200k (salary + equity), based in

London, UK.

We are hiring a Head of Strategic Customers to lead Squid’s most important utility relationships from discovery through deployment, adoption and expansion.

You will sit between product, customer and commercial execution.

You will work closely with power-system engineers, data teams, users, buyers and senior executives to turn ambiguous customer problems into deployed, measurable outcomes.

You will also ensure that learning from each customer becomes reusable product, integrations and delivery practices rather than one-off consulting work.

This is a high-ownership role based in our central London office, with significant direct customer responsibility and the opportunity to shape Squid’s product and go-to-market approach.

What you'll do

  • Own the operating plan for a small portfolio of strategic and lighthouse customers.
  • Build multi-threaded relationships across sponsors, buyers, engineers, data teams, security stakeholders and users.
  • Maintain a clear view of customer objectives, decision processes, budgets, blockers and expansion opportunities.
  • Map customer workflows, systems, data, handoffs, assumptions and decision points.
  • Define the underlying problem, value hypothesis and measurable success criteria for each engagement.
  • Translate customer evidence into clear product, delivery and commercial recommendations.
  • Turn pilots into structured deployment plans covering users, data, access, security, procurement, milestones and dependencies.
  • Coordinate Squid and customer teams, surface risks early and maintain clear communication.
  • Lead customer enablement, adoption and value measurement, with a focus on reducing time to value.
  • Capture reusable patterns as templates, connectors, workflow recipes and deployment playbooks.
  • Feed structured customer evidence into product decisions rather than passing through unfiltered feature requests.
  • Develop the path from initial deployment to expansion, renewal, case studies and strategic advocacy.

Qualifications

You do not need to meet every requirement. We are looking for someone who can combine product judgement, technical fluency, enterprise delivery and strategic account leadership.

You may be a strong fit if you have

  • Experience in enterprise product, solutions, implementation, transformation consulting or strategic account leadership in a complex technical environment.
  • A record of taking an enterprise customer from an ambiguous problem to a deployed and measurable outcome.
  • The credibility to work effectively with both technical practitioners and senior executives.
  • Technical fluency around data, integrations, software products and delivery constraints.
  • Strong programme leadership, commercial judgement and product discipline.
  • The ability to structure complex deployments and surface difficult issues early.
  • Clear written and verbal communication across customer and internal teams.
  • A bias towards reusable product patterns rather than bespoke consulting delivery.
  • Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure or another regulated industry would be valuable, but is not required.
