About Us: We are a small, established construction company based in Kingston upon Thames, specialising in high-quality residential extensions, loft conversions and refurbishments across South and West London. We typically deliver around 10-15 projects per year, ranging from £250,000 to £1,000,000.
The Role: We are looking for a hands-on Construction Project Manager to work closely with our Site Managers and take increasing responsibility for the successful delivery of our projects. This is a practical role, combining technical construction knowledge, programme management, procurement, problem solving and client communication. You will be expected to spend time on site, understand what is happening, identify issues early and make sure projects keep moving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Site Managers with technical and construction-related issues.
- Carry out site visits, check measurements, setting out and levels.
- Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Identify discrepancies and coordinate solutions with engineers, architects and subcontractors.
- Manage and update project programmes, identify delays and implement recovery plans.
- Coordinate procurement, including steelwork, materials and subcontractors.
- Monitor lead times and ensure materials and information are available when required.
- Provide regular progress updates to clients and manage expectations.
- Coordinate Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
- Identify project risks and deal with problems proactively.
- Maintain good standards of quality, organisation and communication.
- Take increasing ownership of projects from start through to completion.
About You:
We are looking for someone with genuine practical construction experience who wants to develop into a strong Project Manager. You may currently be a:
- Site Manager / Supervisor
- Assistant Site Manager
- Assistant/Junior Project Manager
- Construction Manager
- Design Manager / Technical Architect or Technologist
Experience with residential extensions, loft conversions or refurbishments would be particularly valuable.
You should have:
- Strong understanding of construction and residential projects.
- Ability to read architectural and structural drawings.
- Good understanding of measurements, levels and setting out.
- Experience or strong aptitude for programme management.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with subcontractors and consultants.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership.
- Full UK driving licence.
What We're Looking For:
Most importantly, we want someone who is practical, organised, proactive and accountable. Someone who, when a problem arises on site, thinks "how do we solve this?" rather than simply passing it on. You could be someone wanting to take the next step towards becoming a project manager or you may be wanting to obtain more experience in a management role in a firm where you get to take responsibility and work closely with the Director to learn first hand. The successful candidate will work closely with the company director initially, with the aim of developing into someone who can independently manage projects and take significant responsibility for their successful delivery.
What We Offer:
- £38,000–£45,000 salary, depending on experience.
- Performance-based bonus.
- Monday–Friday working week.
- Varied role across high-quality residential projects.
- Genuine responsibility and opportunity for progression.
- Direct involvement with the Company Director and Site Managers.
- Opportunity to develop into a senior project management role with greater responsibility.
To apply: Please send your CV and a brief note outlining your construction experience and why you feel you would be suited to the role.
Benefits:
- Additional leave
- Free or subsidised travel
Location: South West London, Greater London (preferred)
Work Location: In person, office and site based (mixed)
