We are looking for a Pensions Audit Senior to join our team in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Job Purpose: To be responsible for controlling the day-to-day audit work; flag up issues and concerns to Audit Managers at an early stage; train Audit Assistants as needed; ensure deadlines and budgets are met, and the Audit file is presented for review as a substantially complete file, finished to a good standard and signed off. You will work closely with Audit Managers and Audit Assistants to ensure the audit work is handled efficiently and effectively from start to finish, in accordance with the Firm’s Audit Policy and other relevant policies and processes.

The Pensions Audit Senior will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Completing the audit planning documentation for review
  • Arranging the timing of the audit work with the Audit Manager responsible for the client
  • Training and supervising Audit Assistants in pension audit work, giving formal feedback as required and ensuring they are supported as necessary to complete their work to the standard required
  • Completion of the audit file and all required documentation is ready for your Manager’s review
  • Briefing, training and debriefing Audit Assistants, giving formal feedback as required
  • Liaising with Trustees and contacts across other professional firms, such as the Scheme administrator, building effective relationships with these clients and contacts
  • Monitoring budgeted versus actual time spent, flagging up scope issues, and overruns to the Audit Manager on a timely basis
  • Keeping the Trustees and scheme advisors informed of progress and issues while maintaining confidentiality
  • Preparing the draft financial statements to a reasonable standard or reviewing the scheme administrator's prepared draft financial statements to ensure these are free from quality control issues

About You:

  • A leader of your work and your professional learning
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively impact and influence others
  • Part-qualified CA (or equivalent) and above
  • Experience in undertaking pensions audit, with a working knowledge of the pensions SORP and its requirements
  • Practical experience of using software systems in the preparation of audit files and audit working papers. Full training will be given on all software packages
