We are looking for a commercially focused Senior Marketing Manager to lead our go-to-market strategy across JC's priority growth sectors: Financial Services, Technology & Life Sciences, and Energy, Infrastructure & Sustainability. This is a pivotal leadership role within our Marketing team, responsible for driving measurable commercial outcomes through marketing. You will work at the heart of the business, partnering with sector leaders and senior stakeholders to shape how we go to market, improve win rates, strengthen cross-sell, and accelerate sector growth.

Location is flexible in our Scottish and Newcastle offices.

Senior Marketing Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Sector Go-to-market strategy
    • Define and lead go-to-market strategies for our priority sectors, aligned to firmwide growth ambitions.
    • Identify where and how we can win in the market, translating sector priorities into clear, focused marketing and BD strategies.
    • Ensure alignment between sector strategies, service line opportunities, and broader firm priorities.
  • Driving commercial outcomes
    • You will be accountable for delivering measurable impact in:
      • Cross-sell growth across service lines (Tax, Audit, Advisory).
      • Sector growth, particularly in priority areas identified by the Board.
      • Win rate improvement, with a focus on competitive markets such as Financial Services in London.
  • Embedding marketing into the business
    • Build strong, trusted relationships with Partners, Directors, and Heads of Teams.
    • Act as a true marketing partner, embedded within sector teams, contributing to commercial conversations and decision-making.
    • Confidently challenge and shape BD thinking, positioning, and market approach where needed.
  • Propositions, pitching and positioning
    • Strengthen proposition clarity and differentiation across priority sectors.
    • Lead improvements in our approach to proposals, ensuring we present compelling, insight-led offerings.
    • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency in messaging and impact.
  • Data, insight and CRM leadership
    • Champion a data-led and insights approach to marketing and BD.
    • Leverage data and market insight to:
      • identify opportunities.
      • improve targeting.
      • measure performance and ROI.
    • Build a clear feedback loop on what is and isn’t working in the market.
  • Leadership and team development
    • Lead and develop Marketing Manager(s) and Executives within the go-to-market function.
    • Create a culture of accountability, clarity, and high performance.
    • Set clear expectations for what it means to be a “marketing partner” to the business.
  • Collaboration across the Marketing Team
    • Work closely with the Senior Manager responsible for external communications and reputation.
    • Ensure alignment between commercial strategies and our brand, positioning, and client experience.
    • Contribute to the overall leadership and development of the Marketing team.

About you

  • Senior marketing/business development experience within professional services (ideally Big 4 or similar).
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving growth, improving win rates, and identifying cross-sell opportunities.
  • Experience developing go-to-market and sector strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders, Partners, and Directors.
  • Data-driven approach with strong CRM, reporting, and performance analysis experience.
  • Proven success supporting proposals, pitches, and competitive positioning.
  • Credible relationship builder who can challenge constructively, build trust, and drive collaboration across the business.
  • Proactive, self-directed leader with the confidence to operate at a senior level and deliver results.
