Job Role:

Driving Class 2 vehicles involved in moving household and office furniture and other items to new premises or via storage. Working in small through to large teams.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Driving vehicles up to a HGV category
  • Maintaining and complying with all company and legislation requirements
  • Educating, training and developing other team members in delivery emphasising best practice, quality and standards
  • Assisting the management of external contractors during delivery
  • Household removals or relocations
  • Office removals or relocations
  • Taking goods into or out of storage
  • Large specialist projects such as moving hospital, library or school equipment
  • Moving specialist fine art and furniture

Day to Day:

  • Check vehicle and be responsible for its safety and the safety of those working with you
  • Make sure all loads are properly secure and the wagon is loaded correctly to avoid any damage or overloading issues.
  • Using packaging to protect fragile items such as computers or antiques
  • Taking apart larger items of furniture for packing and removal
  • Packing items, loading them into your vehicle and securing them safely
  • Checking that all goods are secure before driving off
  • Driving to the new location, unloading the items, reassembling large items and placing them where the customer wants them
  • Unwrapping furniture and unpacking cartons

Working Hours:

  • Working 5/6 days a week, which will include weekends and/or evenings
  • Moves between longer distances could involve overnight stays in lodgings or in a vehicle

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent
  • Full UK Driving License (up to 6 points)
