Job Role
Removals, relocations, and installations of lab, IT and office furniture and other items to new premises or via storage. Work in small to large teams, with flexibility for weekends and evenings as necessary. Laboratory Logistics operates across the UK and Europe; a valid passport allows work across Europe.
Role and Responsibilities
- Retrieve move orders from operations and follow instructions.
- Complete all removals, relocations and installations for furniture moves, IT relocations and lab equipment.
- Follow delivery plans from JLL Ops Manager, Delivery Manager and Supervisor.
- Maintain the furniture warehouse, keeping it tidy and organised.
- Fill recycling skips with wood, metal and general waste.
- Report all completed jobs to the delivery manager promptly.
- Take goods into or out of storage.
- Handle large specialist projects such as moving hospital, library, or school equipment.
- Move specialist fine art and furniture.
- Complete all JLL training as required.
- Keep accreditations up to date.
- Monitor and record all BAU vehicle mileage.
- Provide project helpline day‑one support.
- Assist with charitable donations.
- Follow site rules and regulations.
- Safely package items before removal or storage.
- Wrap and protect furniture with special wrappings and packing cases for shipping.
- As a specialist packer, wrap and pack delicate items using appropriate packaging for fragile equipment such as computers or lab equipment.
- Disassemble larger items of furniture for packing and removal.
- Remove doors, door frames or windows to fit large pieces of furniture in or out of a building.
- Pack items, load them into your vehicle, and secure them safely; ensure all goods are secure before driving off.
- Drive to the new location, unload items, reassemble large pieces, and place them where the customer wants them.
- Unwrap furniture and unpack cartons.
- Pack cold chain materials.
Requirements
- Flexible working hours; work as and when required. Moves between longer distances may involve overnight stays in lodgings or in a vehicle.
- Driving licence holders preferred.
- Experience preferred in a removal or similar role.
