JMT’s Geomatics/Survey department offers an exciting work environment that leverages modern technology (terrestrial/mobile/aerial LiDAR, Drones, robotics, bathymetry, etc.) balanced with sound traditional survey procedures to deliver projects.

Position Summary: JMT surveys is seeking a Survey Crew Leader to join our teams in Hunt Valley, MD or York, PA. This position will be responsible for managing a field crew in the performance of daily survey tasks. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform control, boundary, and topographic surveys
  • Operate and supervise the use of all survey equipment including electronic data collectors (Trimble), digital levels, robotic total station, GPS and survey vehicles.
  • Perform construction stakeout computations necessary for the completion of task assignments
  • Track job progress
  • Complete data collector maintenance
  • Coordinate information for stakeout services
  • Communicate the daily progress of the crew towards the project goals and/or accomplishments with the office staff

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Compensation

Compensation for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.

Required Skills

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • Able to pass Background Check
  • Able to work 7:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday (Minimum)
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Team Attitude / Mindset
  • Ability to travel required

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge in field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, and GNSS surveys.

Preferred Experience

  • FAA Part 107 with documented flight hours
  • MDOT, DelDOT, PennDOT, VDOT experience
  • Tree identification
  • Experience with construction stakeouts
  • Familiarity with third party software for data reduction and drafting, including Microstation & AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a field environment 95% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required. Some travel required. Some night shift work required.
