About the Opportunity Johnson May Solicitors is a growing boutique litigation firm based in Beckenham, recognised in Chambers UK 2026 for its work with SMEs.
We are looking for a Civil and Property Litigation Solicitor with 2+ years' PQE who is ready to take greater ownership of their work and develop their litigation career within a friendly, client-focused practice.
The role offers a varied caseload including property litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, contractual and business disputes, professional negligence claims and general civil litigation, with direct client contact and the opportunity to develop greater autonomy and responsibility as experience grows.

The Role
- Managing and proactively progressing your own civil and property litigation matters.
- Advising clients from pre-action through proceedings, negotiation and settlement.
- Drafting substantive correspondence, pleadings, witness statements and court documents.
- Managing court directions, deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Advising clients on strategy, risk and settlement and working with Counsel and experts where appropriate.
- Developing strong and lasting client relationships.
- Maintaining effective control of WIP, billing and funds on account.
Junior team members handle routine debt recovery work and other delegated tasks under supervision, giving the solicitor the opportunity to focus on substantive litigation while developing supervisory experience.
Guidance and input are available on complex or strategic matters when needed.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- A solicitor qualified in England & Wales with 2+ years' PQE.
- Experienced in civil litigation, ideally with some property litigation and/or landlord and tenant experience.
- Comfortable taking responsibility for progressing their own matters.
- A strong drafter with a good working knowledge of civil procedure.
- Client-focused, approachable and personable.
- Practical, organised and commercially aware.
- Interested in networking, developing professional relationships and contributing to the growth of the practice.
Experience of contractual or business disputes, professional negligence or debt recovery is welcome but not essential.
What We Offer
- £45,000-£60,000 depending on experience.
