As the Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems, which are used to monitor and control the plant systems at Royston. You will provide Software and Controls input for projects for the Site, which could involve modifications to existing systems or new installations altogether.

As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will help drive our goals by:

  • Providing expert knowledge of PLC systems, preferably Omron and Allen-Bradley.
  • Providing expert knowledge of SCADA systems, preferably Wonderware (Intouch) and Inductive Automation's (Ignition) SCADA packages.
  • Supporting the project teams at initial design stages to offer advice on the selection of software and controls equipment to ensure improved levels of plant reliability and maintainability.
  • Implementing and continually reviewing the controls strategy to ensure business needs, both current and future, are maintained and developed.
  • Implementing recognised standards regarding alarm management and safety-related control functions to ensure process safety is delivered.
  • Interpreting technical drawings for planning, executing, and specifying material to support job duties.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
  • Skills in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) (Omron, Allen Bradley) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), preferably with experience in Wonderware.
  • Experience in large-scale manufacturing/chemical facilities/plant within a software/controls function.
  • Experience in network infrastructure, architecture, and administration.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2008 and 2012, Active Directory, Terminal Services and Thin Client architecture, MS licensing.
  • Ability to read and understand Instrument and electrical drawings.
