Electrical Technician, Apprentice in Birmingham

Electrical Technician \n Location: Brimsdown (Enfield) UK \n Shift Patterns: Day Shifts or Rotating Day/Night Shifts \n \nAt Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. Using advanced metals chemistry, you'll help tackle the world's biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life-saving technologies - by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.\n The role: \n \nAs an Electrical Technician , you will help drive our goals by:\n \n• Carrying out electrical maintenance activities to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable operation of production equipment, utilities and site infrastructure.\n \n• Installing, testing, inspecting and repairing electrical systems and equipment across the Brimsdown site.\n \n• Delivering planned preventative maintenance activities and supporting continuous equipment reliability improvements.\n \n• Recording maintenance activities using SAP CMMS and identifying required spare parts for repairs.\n \n• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and compliance, including adherence to Life Saving Policies and engineering standards.\n Key skills that will help you succeed in this role: \n \n• Completed a recognised electrical maintenance apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).\n \n• Hold 18th Edition City & Guilds 2382 certification and experience in electrical isolation, testing and inspection.\n \n• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems.\n \n• Experience working within an industrial manufacturing or process environment, ideally in a shift-based role.\n \n• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, protective devices and structured problem-solving techniques.\n \n• Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork and attention to detail.\n Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months \n Working Hours: This role is based on-site at Brimsdown and operates on a rotating 12-hour day and night shift pattern, including weekend working.\We are also supportive of hybrid and flexible working and where applicable, offer life, medical and other benefits that support our employees' financial and physical wellbeing, such as:\n \n• Competitive retirement savings\n \n• Company matched Share Incentive Plan\n \n• Life Assurance, Income Protection and Critical Illness\n \n• Medical plans/health assessments\n \n• Retailer and Wellbeing discounts\n \n• Competitive annual incentive plan\n \nReady to make a meaningful impact on your career and the environment?
