Responsibilities
- Manage multiple capital projects (£1–2m), including pilot plants, infrastructure, and site utility equipment, overseeing budgets and capital forecasting.
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and technicians to deliver bespoke, cost-effective designs, including scope, planning, scheduling, change management, installation, and commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions, ensuring designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with business needs.
- Identify and manage project uncertainties, changes in scope, and conflicting priorities across multiple projects, sites, and stakeholders while controlling risk.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, EHS, and JM standards; lead safety audits, hazard studies, and risk assessments to improve practices and maintain process safety.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in managing R&D and pilot-scale capital projects, including commissioning equipment, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and an engineering degree or equivalent.
- Skilled in Process Hazard Assessments, including HAZOP, PHR, and LOPA, with IOSH Managing Safety qualification or equivalent.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to maintain high standards in dynamic, changing environments, delivering to business-critical deadlines under pressure.
- Strong communication and team-working abilities, with capacity to build strategic relationships and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Multi-talented problem solver, providing innovative solutions while balancing accuracy, deadlines, and business needs.
