DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Global Control Tower Operations within Global Transportation & Trade Operations. The role may be located in Leeds, UK or Cork, Ireland. This role will manage and further deploy the global 4PL Transportation Control Tower across business units, regions, and franchises. The Senior Manager will help ensure consistent transportation execution, shipment visibility, operational performance governance, and continuous improvement across Air, Ocean, Ground, Parcel, and Customs Brokerage operations. Working closely with regional operations, Procurement, IT, Finance, Compliance, and external 4PL/3PL partners, this role will strengthen Control Tower adoption, service reliability, cost control, compliant trade and customs execution, and scalable operating processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • 4PL Control Tower Strategic Management & Deployment (50%)
    • Manage the global 4PL Control Tower provider to drive operational performance, process governance, data quality, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead further deployment and adoption of Control Tower capabilities across business units, franchises, and regions.
    • Oversee shipment visibility, exception management, TMS adoption, freight audit and pay integration, 3PL connectivity, and performance reporting.
    • Ensure Control Tower operations align with transportation planning, financial controls, trade compliance, and customs brokerage requirements.
  • Global Program Management & Operating Model (20%)
    • Support the roadmap for global 4PL Control Tower capabilities, including deployment priorities, service scope, governance, and process standardization.
    • Develop practical global standards for transportation execution, customs brokerage coordination, and trade operations interfaces.
    • Partner with regional and functional leaders to translate business needs into scalable Control Tower and 3PL/4PL service capabilities.
    • Drive continuous improvement, service reliability, cost efficiency, and process resilience through structured program management.
  • 4PL/3PL, Customs Brokerage & Supplier Performance Management (20%)
    • Manage performance governance for 4PL Control Tower partners, transportation providers, and customs brokers.
    • Track KPIs, service levels, business reviews, onboarding support, and corrective action follow-up.
    • Support supplier relationships and contract performance with Procurement, Legal, Compliance, and Regional Operations.
    • Use scorecards and benchmarking to identify service, cost, compliance, and value-creation opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration, Digital Enablement & Team Leadership (10%)
    • Act as a key interface between the 4PL Control Tower, regional transportation teams, trade compliance, procurement, IT, finance, planning, and quality.
    • Support digital initiatives that improve automation, analytics, visibility, exception management, and optimization.
    • Contribute to freight audit, cost control, master data governance, customs brokerage performance, and trade compliance programs.
    • Lead and develop a small global or cross-regional team, fostering accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and knowledge sharing.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, trade operations, or related areas.
  • Experience with 4PL Control Tower operations, 3PL management, customs brokerage coordination, and global or regional matrix environments.
  • Strong understanding of multimodal transportation, import/export processes, trade compliance, supplier governance, and logistics provider performance.
  • Experience with TMS, Control Tower platforms, analytics, freight audit and pay, and operational performance reporting.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, solve problems, and drive adoption of standard processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and people leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically or globally.
