Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Commercial Lead, located in Leeds, United Kingdom. Leads, develops and executes commercial NHS activities for DePuy Synthes via a team of Commercial Business Managers in alignment with Business Unit leads to deliver financial commitments and BU strategic priorities.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Leads the delivery of the DS strategic priorities across the NHS customer base, via current BU framework agreements/NHS collaboration in alignment with the BU leads and commercial teams.
  • Lead, develop and support the engagement and relationship with NHS Supply Chain and associated key stakeholders to drive strong collaboration and partnerships.
  • Lead the enhanced support between NHS and Private commercial business managers in coordination with Private Lead.
  • Supports the execution, delivery and evolution of NHS frameworks across DePuy Synthes to deliver financial commitment and market share gain.
  • Shapes current and future agreements/frameworks for the NHS in collaboration with Value team, including sustainability and carbon footprint reporting.
  • Coordinates engagement with Pricing and Tenders to simplify processes, and drive cross function engagement.
  • Ensures commercial governance across capital and NHS frameworks by leading and implementing robust governance and process to support contract management and capital placement, internally and with the customer.
  • Ensures effective implementation and execution of policies and plans to direct the growth of the BU/region and to achieve both long-term and short-term objectives via CBM team.
  • Drives specific BU support via LT/PMOs and coordinates sharing of knowledge across the Commercial Team.
  • Work in collaboration with Value lead and Private Lead to optimise Value processes and maintain high engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the FPC process, coordinate framework variations and continue to shape our solutions based execution.
  • Coordinate debt management protocols and work with the Debt Management team and DS LT to build a structure for dispute resolution.
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Driven by results performance & delivering excellence in the job through strong project management skills, process-oriented work and commercial capability.
  • Excellent working knowledge of NHS procurement, and detailed knowledge of NHS contracting/frameworks.
  • Proven ability to negotiate value based and product/volume/capital led contracts.
  • Ability to drive customer-centric value-driven approach managing complexity, influencing and collaborating in a global, matrixed environment to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to understand business strategy and coach the transition to translate it into actionable plans, coupled with high execution focus and exceptional planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in local language(s) and English; effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Data analysis skills and ability to draw actionable conclusions.
  • Creative divergent thinking, problem solving skills, inclusive thinking.
  • University degree in business administration, marketing & communications, hospital management, life science, public administration or related fields or studies would be preferable but not essential.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven communication, presentation and negotiations skills, with a strong drive to make things happen.
  • Excellent understanding of the UK Healthcare System, procurement providers and the strategy of the Future operating model its structure and priorities.
  • Understanding of health economic principles and extensive knowledge of the UK medical devices industry.
  • IT literate – ability to analyse and present information using appropriate IT resources.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, highly numerate.
