What you will be doing:
- The successful candidate will support the Director of Government Affairs and facilitate connections between internal and external stakeholders and build collaborative relationships with government departments, agencies, policy makers, politicians, trade associations and partner with patient groups and other stakeholders on prioritized public policy issues.
- This role will interact with J&J colleagues and leaders across the business and other functional areas, including health economics, market access, external affairs and regulatory affairs.
Responsibilities include:
- Support in the execution of Government Affairs engagement strategy in the UK and at the EU level on behalf of J&J MedTech to enable business growth and introduction of innovation.
- Gathering and analyzing legislative and public policy developments and impacts on J&J MedTech.
- Participate in internal/external events and actively engaging on driving key issues.
- Building strategic relationships that position J&J as a key trusted advisor to government officials and trade/think tank organizations.
- Ensure J&J is positioned as thought leader and demonstrates strong leadership in the UK industry associations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure coherent external J&J MedTech strategy.
- Identify external opportunities for J&J Executives and support their external thought leadership.
Qualifications:
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
This is a role where the appointed candidate will be able to bring together and utilize a broad array of their skills and experiences.
- Government Affairs Experience: 5+ years of government affairs experience. Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes and political environment across the UK. Ability to engage and develop relationships with government stakeholders. Good understanding of European policy making, international policy and UK trade relationships are desirable.
- Relevant Industry Experience: Experience understanding and influencing policy matters within MedTech and/or pharmaceutical/healthcare industries are required.
- Business Orientation and Impact: An ability to understand business goals and work collaboratively with business leaders to support and advance those goals. A track record of effectively engaging with business executives, policy-makers, multi-lateral organizations, and other internal and external constituencies to deliver meaningful, commercially-driven policy outcomes.
- Drive, Agility and Collaboration: Results-oriented, self-motivated candidate who enjoys a challenging, fast-paced environment; who can support complex projects; who has the desire and willingness to always continue evolving best practices; who is highly organized and adaptable, and can prioritize and deliver under tight deadlines; who can think creatively when the situation is fluid, and the solution unclear; and who brings a collaborative, team-oriented approach to their work.
- Executive Presence & Communication: Strong presentation style with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- A university degree is required. Master’s in public policy or law or healthcare management or MBA are desirable.
