The Contracts & Tenders function sits at the heart of how DePuy Synthes serves its customers across the UK and Ireland. The team is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant and competitive tender submissions, and for making sure that every award we win is contracted and priced correctly, quickly, and without friction for the customer.

We are looking for a Tender Lead – UK & Ireland to own and elevate the end-to-end tender and award process across the UK and Ireland. Reporting to the Commercial Capabilities Lead – UK/Ireland, this role is accountable for building best-in-class tender processes, documents and standardised content, for leading a small team to deliver high-quality, compliant and competitive submissions, and for owning the journey from award through to correctly implemented, live pricing.

This role owns everything that happens next – and is the named point of contact for the commercial organisation on every tender and award. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the UK and Ireland tender landscape, a track record of implementing new processes and challenging the status quo, and the leadership presence to develop their people and influence stakeholders across the business.

The ultimate measure of success will be the acceleration of profitable, compliant growth through faster, higher-quality submissions, a materially shorter and more visible award-to-live journey, demonstrable process improvement, and consistent internal and external stakeholder satisfaction.

What To Expect

  • End-to-End Ownership: Own the journey from tender opportunity or award through to live, correctly implemented pricing – holding accountability for the outcome rather than for individual steps within it.
  • Process, Content & Standards: Build and maintain best-in-class tender and award processes that are efficient, compliant, scalable and easy to do business with.
  • Tender Delivery & Quality: Own the quality and compliance standard for submissions, personally reviewing the most complex and highest-value bids.
  • Business Partnering & Communication: Act as the key point of contact for commercial leaders and stakeholders on all tender and award activity.
  • Leadership & People: Lead, coach and develop a team of three direct reports, fostering an environment where people actively own their development and are supported to grow.

Essential Who We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong, demonstrable understanding of the tender process in the UK and Ireland, including NHS and private procurement, framework agreements and call-off mechanisms.
  • Proven track record of implementing new processes and challenging the status quo, with tangible results in change management and process improvement.
  • Experience of owning a process end to end and improving it.
  • First-line people leadership experience, with a genuine passion for coaching and people development.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and data skills, with the ability to turn data into decisions and business cases.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred

  • Experience within Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals or a comparable regulated / healthcare environment.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare market dynamics and public procurement frameworks across the UK and Ireland.
  • Experience of contract implementation, pricing implementation or contract-to-cash processes.
  • Experience of tendering systems, contract lifecycle management, automation tools and AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation with a high degree of cross-functional collaboration.

How You Lead

  • You set direction and take ownership – comfortable defining the β€˜how’, not just executing the β€˜what’.
  • You are willing to experiment and take considered risks, while staying focused on outcomes.
  • You build and develop talent, creating a supportive environment where individuals are accountable and are given the space and encouragement to grow.
  • You demonstrate high learning agility and a bias towards continuous improvement.
  • You lead with care and integrity, putting patients and customers at the centre of everything you do.

What’s in it for YOU?

It’s important to us that you feel you can bring your whole self to work. At DePuy Synthes we provide an environment for you to fulfil your career aspirations as well as supporting your physical and mental wellbeing. As part of our offering, you will receive a competitive compensation and benefits package that can be tailored to what is valuable to you throughout different stages of your life.
