Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans.

The purpose of this leadership position is to orchestrate New Product Introduction for Knees across the end-to-end supply chain in order to achieve committed launch dates and an efficient and sustainable supply chain for the lifecycle of a product in alignment with the Product Value Streams.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • New Product Delivery: Introducing new products that make ‘supply chain sense’, on-time, cost, quality and service level.
  • Influence key product development attributes (such as manufacturability, sustainability, controls/process capability, network/capacity planning) to achieve targeted quality, reliability, cost and growth goals.
  • Act as a Coach to professionals across the SC with an ability to orchestrate, lead, inspire and develop teams operating under tight schedules and highly complex product development.
  • Collaborate with and influence the R&D team in the development and evolution of the One R&D Product Development Process and supporting stage gate process and time to market initiatives.
  • Provide development opportunities and mentorship and use J&J performance management processes to grow a high‑performing, diverse organization where individuals reach their personal aspirations.
  • Manage a team of SMEs to ensure product/process/resource needs for assigned NPD projects are identified and communicated to the NPD team.
  • Identify risks and work with the team to assure mitigations are completed during the development and launch phases of a new product.
  • Orchestrate activities in partnership with Supply Chain Engineering teams to assure gross profit objectives are met and an optimal supply chain process is established.
  • Influence processes, strategies and key programs with strength and credibility from a Supply Chain point-of-view.
  • Develop manufacturing & business strategies and accelerate launch of new products including development of compelling cases and successful championing of funding/appropriation requests.
  • Prioritize NPD and LCM projects and resource allocation in consultation with partners.
  • Maintain Portfolio Supply Chain “Health” and optimize portfolio Maintenance by introducing NPI’s that meet or exceed gross profit targets and continually completing portfolio optimization strategies.
  • Assure portfolio compliance with respect to product stewardship-related regulatory requirements.
  • Drive portfolio complexity management practices. Find opportunities for complexity reduction and build compelling cases for action with commercial partners.
Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end New Product Introduction (NPI) for Knees to meet launch commitments and ensure long‑term supply chain sustainability.
  • Influence product development decisions (manufacturability, sustainability, cost, quality, capacity planning) to ensure products make supply‑chain sense and deliver on business targets.
  • Coach and develop cross‑functional supply chain professionals, building high‑performing teams capable of navigating complex product development under tight timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D to shape product development processes, stage‑gate discipline, and time‑to‑market practices.
  • Oversee subject‑matter experts to identify product, process, and resource needs; manage risks and drive mitigation during development and launch.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Engineering to set manufacturing strategies and ensure product launches meet gross profit and operational goals.
  • Drive Supply Chain influence across strategies, processes, and key programs with strong credibility and insight.
  • Prioritize NPD and lifecycle management projects, managing resources to maximize value and portfolio health.
  • Maintain supply chain portfolio compliance, optimize complexity, and identify opportunities for simplification.
  • Support strategic capability development and continuous improvement across DePuy Synthes and J&J Supply Chain.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or University degree is required, preferably in the field of Science, Engineering or Chemistry. Advanced/Graduate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of overall experience in the regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Three (3) years of management experience supervising professional exempt level individuals.
  • Proficiency in industry standards, investigations/technical assessments, compliance, and validation.
  • Direct experience overseeing medical device teams.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in new product development processes and practices.
  • Experience partnering with R&D organizations in a highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading product and/or process integrations.
  • Superior data analysis and statistical skills.
  • All validation requirements for process, cleaning and packaging validation.
  • Six Sigma certification / training.
  • Knowledgeable in GMP and pharmaceutical industry applicable regulations.
  • Process improvement and capacity enabling methodologies.
  • Statistics.
  • New product presentations and new product introduction.
  • Quality.
  • Computer literacy required (MS Office related programs).

  • May require up to 20% domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites.
