At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything. Our strength in healthcare innovation empowers us to build a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated, and cured, where treatments are smarter and less invasive, and solutions are personal.

We are recruiting an Immunology Medical Advisor (IBD) to join our cross-functional Therapy Area team. In this role, you will help deliver value through high-quality medical input and leadership to strategy and activities, ultimately benefiting patients, Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and the NHS.

You’ll be a key partner to the wider Therapy Area team, contributing medical insights, scientific support and customer engagement to drive the medical plan and IBD priorities.

Role purpose

As a Medical Advisor (IBD), You Will:

  • Optimise brand/therapy strategy through medical insight as a member of the extended cross-functional team and through delivery of agreed tactics.
  • Raise therapy area capability across customer-facing teams by sharing IBD and product knowledge internally.
  • Provide scientific support externally in response to clinical interest and strategic needs, for the benefit of patients and the NHS.
What You’ll Do

Therapy area knowledge & insight

  • Build and maintain up-to-date knowledge of scientific/clinical advances in IBD, including the evolving evidence base and attendance at relevant meetings for insights.
  • Develop a strong understanding of NHS dynamics, priorities and access factors that influence evidence-based IBD care—turning this into actionable insights.
  • Contribute to evidence generation by identifying data gaps and proposing mechanisms to address them, understanding how data sources fit the broader evidence plan.
  • Monitor competitor activity for strategic awareness and best practice, including Code of Practice considerations.

Customer excellence (external engagement)

  • Engage with HCPs, customers and researchers (as required) to gather insights on the IBD landscape and customer medical/scientific needs.
  • Exchange disease knowledge and understand emerging opinions.
  • Support appropriate understanding of products and processes based on customer needs.
  • Seek advice that supports product development and evidence planning.
  • Develop scientific and medical content for IBD advisory boards.
  • Support relevant patient advocacy groups and initiatives (where appropriate), including insight gathering and responding to clinical interest.

Internal collaboration & delivery

  • Support the Medical Lead and medical colleagues with projects aligned to the medical brand plan, contributing to cross-functional team working as appropriate.
  • Co-create medical education projects with internal stakeholders and support MSLs with IBD educational presentations.
  • Provide office-based training and enable internal stakeholders to understand optimal and compliant use of products.
  • Contribute (as appropriate) to NICE/SMC submissions and broader medical governance processes.

Strategy & compliance

  • Contribute to the development of Medical Affairs strategy for IBD by bringing evidence generation, healthcare environment and customer insights.
  • Review materials and activities as a final signatory, maintaining strong knowledge of UK-specific requirements.
  • Operate with strong compliance and inspection readiness, including appropriate safety reporting and HCC/legal requirements when planning and executing projects.

Critical requirement (IBD role): Final Signatory

For The IBD Medical Advisor Position, You Must Either:

  • Already be a UK final signatory, or
  • Be eligible and able to develop into a UK final signatory within 3–6 months.

This means the IBD role requires candidates who are UK-registered pharmacists or doctors (with appropriate registration to relevant official governing bodies).

Essential

What you’ll bring:

  • Medical Doctor or Pharmacist qualification, with eligibility to become (or already being) a UK final signatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific data into clear, high-quality medical insights and materials.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with marketing, sales, market access and compliance partners.
  • Experience contributing to evidence generation, medical education projects, and/or HTA submissions.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion means “You Belong”. We are committed to building an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone can reach their potential.
