Trade Compliance Specialist
Location can be flexible in one of our offices throughout the UK and Ireland
What you will do
The Trade Compliance Specialist for Europe will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the company’s operations meet all global trade compliance requirements. This position focuses on customs valuation disclosures relating to royalty and transfer pricing adjustments, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification, HTS classification, Import & Export Audits and managing trade compliance metrics and KPIs.
How you will do it
Customs Valuation Disclosures & Transfer Pricing Adjustments:
- Analyze and support the preparation of customs valuation disclosures.
- Review and manage royalty and transfer pricing adjustments to ensure compliance with international customs regulations.
- Collaborate with the global finance team to ensure appropriate adjustments are made and accurately reflected in customs filings.
- Identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions for any customs adjustments required.
FTA Qualification & Solicitation Support:
- Coordinate with the Global FTA Trade Compliance Team to ensure proper documentation and support for the qualification of Free Trade Agreements
- Assist with soliciting necessary FTA certificates
- Maintain records and reports of FTA qualification status across multiple sites
HTS Classification Support:
- Provide HTS classification support in coordination with the Global HTS Trade Compliance Teams.
- Ensure proper tariff classification for imports and exports based on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
- Work with internal teams to resolve classification discrepancies and manage classification requests efficiently.
Import & Export Audits:
- Conduct internal audits of import and export activities, to ensure compliance with Trade Regulations.
- Prepare audit reports and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions and mitigate compliance risks.
Trade Compliance Metrics & KPIs Management:
- Manage trade compliance metrics and KPIs to track performance and ensure adherence to global trade compliance standards.
- Maintain trade compliance dashboards and reports to communicate compliance status and areas for improvement to leadership.
What we look for
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or international trade.
- Strong understanding of customs valuation, transfer pricing, FTA regulations, HTS classification, and audit processes.
- Knowledge of Trade Automation and enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
- Hands-on experience with SAP and Oracle
- Knowledge of trade compliance software and automation tools is a plus.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional European languages are a plus).
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, such as finance, legal and logistics, as well as external stakeholders like customs brokers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or similar trade compliance certifications are an advantage.
Experience with international customs audits or dispute resolution is a plus.
