What You Will Do

The role will be working in the Global Marine & Navy Service Team designing bespoke HVAC/R systems for military vessels for Navy’s worldwide. You will assist project managers, design retrofit solutions (including calculations and drawings), and perform refrigeration and obsolescence studies to ensure reliable, cost-effective products and solutions.

How You Will Do It

  • Understand and interpret client HVAC specifications, retrofit scopes, and commercial documentation to drive design decisions.
  • Organise deliverable packages for retrofit projects, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Produce technical and obsolescence documents and studies to support lifecycle management.
  • Develop technical proposals for HVAC enquiries, including retrofit options and energy-saving strategies.
  • Manage projects from concept and detailed design through installation and commissioning support, coordinating with PMs and cross-functional teams.
  • Perform design calculations (load calculations, duct/piping sizing, thermal analysis) and create CAD/3D drawings.
  • Write detailed system specifications, prepare test procedures, and compile technical reports (including obsolescence and risk analyses).
  • Provide technical reviews of OEM designs to ensure compliance with client requirements before manufacture.
  • Coordinate with procurement to obtain supplier quotes and manage equipment procurement for retrofits.
  • Maintain daily consultation with service teams and manage interfaces with cross-functional groups.
  • Track project progress and financials; develop progress reports and manage cost control for the design scope.

Essential

  • Experience in Design (HVAC / Mechanical / Electrical)
  • Excellent communication skills - Consulting directly with the client and internal service team.
  • Experience in interpreting clients’ technical specifications.
  • Understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D & 3D.
  • Full UK Diving License.
  • SC UK MOD Security clearance will be required, screening provided by JCI.

Preferred

  • Engineering Qualification (HVAC / Mechanical / Electrical).
  • HNC/HND in Engineering (Engineering Background).
  • Experience in the Marine Industry.
  • Experience with MoD contracts.
  • Experience in HVAC/Chilled Water Plant Industry – HVAC Role.
  • 3+ years in similar position.
