Johnson Controls is hiring a Fire Alarm Service Engineer for a static on‑site role at a major facility in Ashford, Kent. We are seeking a candidate with strong experience in fire alarm systems, along with a willingness to develop further in gas suppression technologies.

You will join a dedicated on‑site team responsible for the servicing, preventative maintenance, routine servicing, fault‑finding, and remedial works associated with site‑wide fire detection, gas suppression, and passive/mechanical fire protection systems. Daily client interaction is required to ensure smooth operations, clear communication, and adherence to strict site safety and operational protocols.

Typical systems include:

  • Conventional & addressable fire detection and alarm systems
  • Networked systems and graphical interfaces
  • Gas extinguishing systems (Argonite, CO₂, Inergen, Novec)
  • Mechanical fire suppression equipment

You will take personal ownership of service delivery, quality, and safety, acting as a role model for best practice and advising the client on remedial actions and potential system upgrades.

How You Will Do It

  • Service, maintain, and fault‑find on fire detection and fire alarm systems
  • Receive training and development in gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems
  • Carry out integrity testing (training provided if required)
  • Complete all service documentation accurately using an iPad and service software
  • Liaise with the client to obtain permits to work and ensure compliance with site procedures
  • Attend mandatory training and maintain required certifications
  • Support occasional mechanical and passive fire protection tasks
  • Participate in the on‑call rota on a rotating weekly basis
  • Identify, escalate, and report health and safety concerns promptly
  • Conform to all QEHS regulations and contribute to a zero‑harm workplace
  • Sign onto RAMS, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, van audits, and accident investigations
  • Take part in internal technical audits and continuous improvement activities
  • Coach and support apprentices and new starters
  • Act as a key link between the client and the Field Line Manager, ensuring clear communication of completed works and outstanding actions
  • Represent Johnson Controls with professionalism, accountability, and inclusivity
