Primary site location – Portsmouth. Field based duties can take you to Plymouth / Cumbria / Aberdeen / EU and beyond! At JCI Global Marine & Navy, we supply air conditioning and refrigeration equipment to the Royal Navy, international navies, commercial marine vessels, and offshore industries. We are committed to delivering exceptional through‑life support for all equipment we provide.
As a Specialised Technician, you will support our chilled water plants, refrigeration systems, and HVAC solutions across a wide range of marine environments. The role requires versatility, adaptability to new technologies, and a proactive approach. You will work onshore on large‑scale chillers — up to 10,000 kW — within plant rooms on Navy and commercial marine vessels.

What You Will Do
- Commission and test equipment, including HAT/SAT/CST trials
- Carry out routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and retrofits
- Support factory acceptance trials at our Basildon facility when required
- Provide technical support, guidance, and training to project teams and clients
- Maintain accurate work records and report emergent issues
- Ensure safe working practices and deliver excellent customer service
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, especially in fault‑finding
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and multitask effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset
- Experience in Navy/Marine environments is beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge of PLC/microprocessor‑based systems, HVAC systems, and air balancing
- Flexibility to travel to UK and international ports as required
- Willingness to work occasional weekends
- Eligibility for UK BPSS and SC security clearances
Preferred Qualifications
- Apprenticeship in refrigeration or HVAC
- City & Guilds, NVQ, or BTEC in refrigeration/HVAC
- F‑Gas (C&G 2079)
- Electrical qualifications (desirable but not essential)
