Supporting the HVACR Business within Johnson Controls’ Global Products and Solutions organization, your mission will be to deliver exceptional returns across the portfolio of products by driving sustainable value creation through important growth and commercial excellence, operational improvements, and organisation-related initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring delivery of a robust roadmap of business growth and operations, working closely with management and broader HVACR teams as well as central strategy, transformation, and functional teams.

The role will be responsible for defining and driving strategic initiatives and leading and overseeing large-scale, complex programmes from initiation to implementation. The role involves strategic planning, resource management, and stakeholder engagement at the executive level and will closely collaborate with other programme leaders including Engineering/Product, Manufacturing, Finance and external partners as well as drive further linkage by overseeing and managing the execution of any necessary acquisitions or divestitures to support the strategic plan.

Key responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning and execution: Lead development of long-term strategic plan and define new and refine existing strategic initiatives. Collaborate with executive leadership to define new strategic initiatives, ensuring all initiatives are actionable with a clear roadmap for execution (strategic rationale and scope, business cases, budget, schedule, resources). Ensure that overall initiatives plan/roadmap is aligned to the business financial targets.
  • M&A and post-merger execution: Work closely with corporate M&A team to identify opportunities that support strategy. Collaborate with product, sales, and operations teams to define integration roadmap and successfully realise value from acquisitions or divestitures.
  • Process review and implementation of best practices: Support processes assessments (manufacturing, operational, commercial) and identify opportunities for improvement. Drive internal and external benchmarking and competitive analysis. Capture and support implementation of best practices for any processes impacting business operations and results.
  • Program management and performance monitoring: Develop and implement full functioning, global PMO as needed and deliver regular communication of progress for Board of Directors and senior leadership reviews. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track program progress. Drive decision and actions – performance manage Workstream Leaders and Initiative Owners to meet deadlines (no lateness, no under-delivery). Lead the problem solving on initiative issues and drive resolution with Workstream or through escalation.
  • Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams across global organisation, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring all team members are aligned and motivated to achieve desired outcomes. Adapt communication style in response to varying situations, groups, and cultures. Ensure that individuals and team members understand the impact of their contributions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, clients, and partners, to facilitate communication and manage expectations.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior program managers and team members, fostering professional development and enhancing program management capabilities within the organisation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing program outcomes and implementing lessons learned in future programs.
What we look for:
  • Required: MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Background in management consulting.
  • Experience in the Building Technologies line of Business.
  • Minimum of 12 years of business experience with a minimum of 8 years managing a team, programs, or projects.
  • Well-rounded business leader with strong capabilities and understanding of commercial, operational, and financial levers of the business.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a technical environment, including in front of C-level and VP-level stakeholders. In many cases this position is viewed as the face of the business, as it has frequent interaction at VP/President level.
  • Ability to engage globally, understand and work effectively in a culturally diverse organisation.
  • Excellent understanding of financial concepts and familiarity with standard financial reporting.
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt quickly to new environment and demands.
  • Willing to challenge others and be challenged.
  • Ability to operate and influence across a matrix organisation and manage team members by influence, without the benefit of direct reporting.
  • Experience with a wide variety of structured problem-solving processes and reporting tools.
  • Candidate must be well-organised and capable of managing numerous competing priorities.
  • Excellent people skills with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across a matrix, multi-cultural organisation.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including project planning, management, and team building.
  • Ability to travel 15-30%.
