Job Summary
At Johnson Controls, we’re thrilled to invite passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds to join our dynamic Fire Suppression Engineering team. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you’ll gain invaluable practical experience and access to state-of-the-art training facilities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
We have a unique opportunity for an Apprentice Mechanical Fire Suppression Engineer where you\’ll earn while you learn! We will teach you how to install, service, test, and repair fire suppression systems and equipment in accordance with relevant service standards and specifications.
As an apprentice, you’ll engage in a hands-on learning experience, developing new skills while building connections with our knowledgeable staff.
What You’ll Do At Work
- Service, test, and install the appropriate pipework and systems; disassemble and reconstruct equipment.
- Perform servicing/testing and repairs on systems and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.
- Install systems and equipment based on relevant fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Accurately complete engineering work reports, handover certificates, and pressure test certificates or checklists as required.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by your line manager.
Where You’ll Work
You will be expected to cover the South West and Midlands predominantly. However, this is a national role so will need to travel all over the UK and be comfortable working away and staying over in hotels when required.

What’s Next?
Suitable candidates will be contacted via email to provide their evidence of required certifications. Once we receive the evidence of certification you will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre, where you will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.
Candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can expect to begin the apprenticeship with Johnson Controls in the late summer of 2025.
