The Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital (JHACH) Division of Pediatric General Surgery seeks a BC/BE pediatric surgeon to join an established group of 11 surgeons. Our practice provides a full range of pediatric surgery care to patients on the West Coast of Florida. The candidate must have a strong clinical interest in broad pediatric surgical care.
Our group functions as the Division of Pediatric Surgery for multiple institutions within the Tampa Bay Region, including the two major academic pediatric institutions Johns Hopkins All Children's and Tampa General Hospital/University of South Florida. With our new Wesley Chapel Hospital campus expected to open in Fall 2027, we aim to recruit additional pediatric surgeons in the Tampa area. Qualified candidates are eligible for academic appointments through both Johns Hopkins University and the University of South Florida, and there are many opportunities to develop clinical, educational, quality, simulation, and research interests.
Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a 259‐bed academic health system ranked by US News & World Report as a "Top 50 Children's Hospital" in eight pediatric specialties (2025‐2026) and #1 children's hospital in Florida. With 11 outpatient care locations and collaborations with multiple community or regional hospitals throughout Florida's west coast, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's west coast. The new freestanding Wesley Chapel campus will have a total of 56 pediatric inpatient beds, including 44 acute care beds and 12 pediatric rehabilitation beds, along with a 16‐room emergency department, 4 operating rooms, and various outpatient specialties.
JHACH is an ACS Level 1 Children's Surgery Center and a state‐designated Pediatric Trauma Center. It has a 90‐bed Level IV NICU, a surgical ICU for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and ECMO, an Esophageal‐Airway Treatment Service, a Congenital Heart and Transplantation Center, a Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Center, and many other pediatric tertiary/quaternary services. The Division maintains two ACGME fellowships (pediatric surgery and surgical critical care) while the institution hosts multiple training programs across specialties.
Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is a 1,041‐bed academic medical center and main teaching hospital for the Morsani College of Medicine of the University of South Florida. The Children's Hospital at TGH is notable for its 82‐bed Level III NICU, ACS Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA pediatric burn center, children's oncology service, and solid organ transplant center. There is an ACGME general surgery training program with 7 graduating residents per year. Both hospitals combined have greater than 11,000 deliveries per year.
