POSITION SUMMARY: The Food Service Associate may work anywhere on property where food is prepared and served.
This person will assist in setup and serving of food from counters and steamtables.
Duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations.
As a cashier, they must accurately operate the cash register/POS and complete the transactions.
The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but JHACH may identify other responsibilities of the position.
These responsibilities may differ among the exact work area, depending on business necessities and department requirements.
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 1. Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
- 2. Keeps records and requisition for supplies/equipment as needed.
- 3. Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
- 4. May taste test products.
- 5. Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following all hospital and regulatory rules and procedures
- 6. Serves, replenishes, food from counters and steam tables (sometimes using a conveyor food belt), and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
- 7. Sets up stations with entrees, soups, salads, breads, condiments, other food products and utensils.
- 8. Provides general stocking duties in service area.
- 9. Brews coffee and tea.
- 10. May be required to restock other beverage areas.
- 11. Interacts with customers in the serving, retail and dining areas.
- 12.
Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.
- 13. Responsible for accurate ring of proper PLU for sale items and/or accurate barcode scan.
- 14. Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
- 15. Maintains proper security of cash at all times.
- 16. Understand and follows department cash-handling policies and procedures.
- 17. Assists customers with opening containers and cutting food when requested,
- 18. Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
- 19. Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- 20. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- 21. Participates in regular safety meeting, safety training and hazard assessments.
- 22. Complies with all HACCP policies and procedures.
- 23. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
- 24. May work on a tray line to distribute food.
- 25. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Salary Range
Minimum 16.25/hour - Maximum 25.11/hour.
Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
