We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bank Catering Assistant to join our catering team across both our care homes, Whitgift House and Wilhelmina House. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations, ensuring that meal preparation runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn in a dynamic kitchen environment and interested in working flexible shifts.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of meals, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.
  • Support the catering team by preparing ingredients, cooking, and plating dishes as required.
  • Help with the organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing utensils and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the head chef to ensure timely meal service during busy periods.
  • Participate in stock management, including receiving deliveries and storing food items appropriately.
  • Follow recipes and instructions provided by senior kitchen staff to ensure consistency in food quality.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Some experience of preparing and cooking food.
  • To be able to communicate at a reasonable level.
  • To be aware of procedures with regards to cleanliness and storage of food, including food rotation.
  • To be able to complete simple forms and read basic instructions in English.
  • To have received an introduction to Food Hygiene training.

Health & Safety Experience

  • Must have experience in catering or service industry and have knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • Must be well presented with high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Understand the Health and Safety policy, emergency and fire procedures.
  • Must hold Level Two Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate.

Our internal training is run by our dedicated Training Coordinator who ensures that our staff are trained in mandatory subjects. These include:
