John West UK is looking for a Logistics Manager to lead inbound logistics and 3PL operations, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable flow of goods into the UK supply chain. We are open to both permanent hires and interim candidates for a fixed-term contract of up to 6 months. This is a key role within the Supply Chain function, responsible for managing international freight, warehousing operations, and inventory accuracy, while driving service performance and continuous improvement across our logistics network. The role will report to the Logistics & Customer Supply Chain Manager and will be based in our Liverpool office.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead inbound logistics from global manufacturing sites into the UK, ensuring on-time delivery and cost control.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, freight providers, and customs brokers to resolve issues and minimize disruption.
  • Own operational performance of UK 3PL providers, including service, cost, and capacity management.
  • Define, track, and improve KPIs such as service levels, storage utilization, throughput, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee inventory management processes to ensure high levels of accuracy and control.
  • Lead stock counts and investigate discrepancies between systems, driving improvements in inventory visibility.
  • Take ownership of SAP Material Master data related to logistics and warehousing, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment across systems.
  • Ensure accurate data flow between WMS and SAP systems.
  • Deliver reporting on logistics performance and cost trends to support business decisions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and warehousing operations.

About You

  • Proven experience in logistics or supply chain, ideally within FMCG or a complex global environment.
  • Strong experience managing 3PL providers and external partners.
  • Solid understanding of inbound logistics, international freight, and warehouse operations.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management, stock reconciliation, and stock counts.
  • Strong SAP knowledge (essential), including hands-on experience with Material Master, and experience working with WMS systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge.
  • A proactive, detail-focused approach with strong ownership and accountability.
