John West is looking for an IT Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day operation of our digital systems and technology services across our offices in the UK, Ireland and Netherlands. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career IT professional, recent graduate, or someone with relevant placement or internship experience who is looking to develop their career within a global FMCG business. You will work closely with business users and IT teams to provide technical support, manage IT assets, maintain business systems, and help ensure the smooth operation of our technology environment. The role will be based in our Liverpool office and will report to the Digital Manager.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for local infrastructure, applications, and end users, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding activities, including account setup, access management, and hardware allocation.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, Active Directory / Entra ID, telephony systems, printers, and other business applications.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, tracking, auditing, and disposal.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and application issues to minimize business disruption and maintain business continuity.
  • Support IT projects, system upgrades, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
  • Maintain technical documentation, asset records, and support IT security and compliance requirements.

About You

  • Degree, apprenticeship, placement experience, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in IT infrastructure, systems support, and business technology.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows environments, and networking concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Fundamentals, Azure Fundamentals, or CompTIA certifications would be advantageous.
