Location: Ipswich Accident Repair Centre (Ransomes Europark)

Our busy BSI, Manufacturer and insurance approved Accident Repair Bodyshop on Ransomes Europark in Ipswich repairs all makes of vehicle, whether damaged in major accidents or with minor scratches to an exceptionally high standard. An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Vehicle Painter to join our team.

Job Summary: The Vehicle Painter is responsible for preparing and painting vehicles to a high standard, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer, insurance and company standards. This role involves surface preparation, colour matching, spray painting, and finishing, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vehicles for painting by sanding, masking, and priming surfaces.
  • Mix and match paint colours to achieve accurate finishes.
  • Apply paint using spray guns and other equipment in a controlled environment.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality and correct any imperfections.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and spray booths.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
  • Work collaboratively with panel beaters, mechanics, and estimators.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding paint and solvent disposal.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a vehicle/bodyshop painter or similar role.
  • Knowledge of automotive painting techniques and materials.
  • Ability to mix and match paint colours accurately.
  • Familiarity with spray guns, sanding tools, and other painting equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Refinishing (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Valid UK driving licence (preferred).
  • Experience with water-based and high-solid paints.
  • Knowledge of smart repair techniques.
  • Understanding in health and safety or COSHH.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced bodyshop environment.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week
