Teaching Assistant required from March 2026. Permanent, Part Time role working 32.5 hours per week across 5 days (6.5 hours per day). Term time plus 5 INSET days, working 39 weeks per year. Salary: Grade 4 SCP5-6: £25,583 to £25,989 per annum pro rata. Actual salary based on 32.5 hours per week term time only: £19,416 to £19,724 per annum.
Rugeley John Taylor School, part of John Taylor MAT, is proud to be growing the only ‘all-through’ school within our Trust family. Having opened our doors to our first cohort, we are continuing to build a school that will serve local communities from the earliest years through to sixth form, offering a ‘gold standard’ learning experience. Responsibilities
- You will provide dedicated support to a number of pupils including those with medical needs.
- The successful candidate will be provided with full specialist training to manage health needs, including tracheostomy awareness and care and supporting pupils with diabetes management.
- Working alongside teachers and the wider SEND and pastoral teams, you will help to create inclusive opportunities for pupils to engage fully in school life.
- You may also support the use of technology, such as an AV1 robot, to facilitate learning for specific pupils who are unable to attend school on occasion.
- You will play an important role in helping pupils and their families prepare for life at Rugeley John Taylor as part of our transition programme, including involvement in transition events, meeting pupils ahead of their start date, gathering important information about their needs, and helping to ensure that each child feels confident, supported and ready for the move into Year 7.

Qualifications and experience (ideal)
- Experience of working in a medical, care or health-based setting (beneficial but full training provided).
- Experience supporting 1–1 or small groups within a school.
- Experience working with children with SEND and specific needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to relate well to children.
- Self-motivation and the ability to take responsibility.
- Technical skills to adapt to new technology.
- The ability to build professional relationships with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders.
Above all, you must be able to demonstrate a deep commitment to the needs of pupils, ensuring their safety, comfort and inclusion, while proactively removing barriers to create an enjoyable, nurturing and secure learning environment.
