Due to changes within our workforce we are looking to recruit an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner. John Tasker House & Felsted Surgeries is a well‑established GP surgery located in Dunmow with a branch surgery in Felsted. We have a current list size of approximately 15,000 patients. You will be working alongside our current team of Allied Health Care Professionals, 5 GP Partners, a team of Practice Nurses and HCAs, Salaried GPs and a range of other clinical and administrative colleagues.
The ANP will act autonomously within their professional scope of practice providing care for patients face to face or via telephone triage. The postholder will assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions.
Job responsibilities- Work as part of our urgent care and multi‑disciplinary team alongside our GPs, PCN ARRS colleagues and nursing team to deliver safe and high quality care.
- The successful candidate will carry out clinical practice at an advanced level using expert clinical skills, critical judgements & knowledge to deliver appropriate and safe care.
- Triage and treat patients, performing specialist assessment of their needs and make referrals as necessary to other members of the primary and secondary health care teams as appropriate.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, including drug and non‑drug based treatment methods into a management plan.
- Request diagnostic investigations and interpret within agreed protocols e.g. x‑ray, blood tests, scans, etc.
- Assess, diagnose and treat patients in practice premises who require medical attention and/or refer to appropriate agency.
- Prescribing and reviewing medication that is appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with latest evidence‑based practice, national and practice protocols and within the scope of qualified practice.
- Co‑ordinate the planning and delivery of care ensuring patients and carers/relatives are involved.
- Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
- Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
- Provide accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments in the patient’s notes.
- Ensure clinical systems kept up to date, recording and/or amending accurate details.
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice.
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
- Maintain your own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to its Code of Professional Conduct.
- Practice within the four pillars and have a job plan that shows advanced nursing practice and equity with peers working at this level.
- Maintain any other required registrations and certifications necessary to fulfil your role.
- To promote a professional approach at all times by dress and attitude to patients and staff, both in and out of the Practice, setting an example for those under your direct authority and to the team as a whole.
- Maintain continuous CPD and ensure this is kept up to date in line with the practice development plans.
- The successful candidate may be required to perform other duties from time to time to meet the needs of patients and the practice.
- The successful candidate will be expected to conform with all practice policies and protocols including but not limited to confidentiality and health & safety.
- Experience: Previous experience of working within a GP Practice setting.
- Qualifications: Active registration with the NMC.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
In addition to your salary you will be entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme, a minimum of 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays (pro‑rata for part‑time staff). We also offer extended access appointments on some evenings and some Saturdays.
