We're looking for a Production Operative to join our skilled team at our historic Lea Mills in Matlock. This hands-on role focuses on preparing collars and trims ready for garment production, helping ensure every piece meets the exceptional quality standards that have defined John Smedley for more than 240 years. Whether you already have experience in manufacturing or are looking to learn a new skill, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare collars and trims ready for garment production.
  • Manually split collar trims using specialist hand tools with precision and care.
  • Operate our fusing machine to bond materials accurately and consistently.
  • Press and prepare trims to meet production requirements.
  • Inspect materials for quality, consistency and any defects.
  • Work closely with colleagues to achieve daily production targets.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Follow company quality standards and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
