Sisk is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to work on 2-3 London‑based schemes, leading the implementation of a professional, competent and knowledge‑sharing culture across all sites and ensuring that best‑in‑class health, safety and environment practices are planned, implemented and shared effectively.
The successful candidate will be the point of contact for all H&S related activities and a positive value‑adding service to project teams.
Responsibilities
- Build working relationships with supply team management, particularly SC H&S managers.
- Attend Start‑Up meetings with Sisk site teams and, where requested, other meetings with clients and the supply chain.
- Coach staff at all levels on Health and Safety expectations and standards.
- Implement the management system and coach and encourage others to use it appropriately.
- Foster innovative ideas for enhanced safety performance.
- Deliver appropriate training and understand bespoke client requirements.
- Liaise with enforcement authorities for routine site visits or investigations following incidents.
- Carry out high‑quality safety inspections of Sisk workplaces at the frequency and with the intrusiveness coached by the BU HSE Manager.
- Perform risk reviews and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Assist the BU HSE Manager in the consistent roll‑out of company strategy and expectations within the OHSMS.
- Manage external H&S related systems and drive a culture of responsibility and accountability.
- Integrate as part of the project delivery team, supporting through education and risk management while maintaining objectiveness.
- Ensure all inspections required by the OHSMS are completed in a timely manner, and mentor and coach the standards where required.
- Manage, lead and investigate all events and coordinate post‑event management.
- Self‑manage and organise work commitments, including flexibility for nights or weekends where project requirements demand.
- Contribute to H&S team consultations and assist tender and pre‑qualification teams by advising on safety concerns and practical solutions.
- Stay informed on legislative changes and industry best practice to ensure competent advice is provided.
- Recognise limits of competence and seek further support where required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Minimum 3 years as a health and safety professional.
- Technical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).
- NVQ Level 6, NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH or equivalent desirable.
- Experience of similar projects and knowledge of significant lifting, auditing, TWC/S, building safety act, fire risk assessor training beneficial.
- Good IT skills (Office Suite).
