The predicted salary is between 50000 - 65000 £ per year.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for ensuring that the estimated cost of a project is prepared correctly in an explicit and consistent manner which takes into account the methods of construction and all circumstances which may affect the execution of the work on a project.

Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety: Ensure health and safety procedures are built into tender methodologies, referencing S5 items; promote the company's zero incidents culture.
  • Management & Development: Support training and development of Estimators and assistants; assist in personal development plans for direct reports.
  • Tender Documentation: Log and manage all tender documents; issue addendums and client correspondence to team members.
  • Subcontractor & Material Enquiries: Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiry schedules; assess supplier responses; manage competition levels.
  • Bill of Quantities & Pricing: Arrange production of bills of quantities; carry out spot checks; chase tender returns; maintain updated enquiry schedules.
  • Design Information & Value Savings: Review design information on design-and-build tenders to identify value savings; compile clarifications and estimator notes.
  • Change Management: Incorporate late tender amendments into costings and submissions.
  • Tender Risk & Opportunity Assessments: Assist in preparing risk and opportunity assessments; support value engineering schedules.
  • Tendering & Cost Analysis: Review risk registers; conduct regular tender reviews; analyse package returns; prepare subcontractor analysis schedules.
  • Tender Settlement: Prepare documents for settlement; present net costings with risks and opportunities; prepare tender sum analysis (cash flow, forecasts).
  • Adjudication & Client Pricing: Attend adjudication meetings; implement amendments; complete client pricing documents (forms of tender, contract sum analysis, prelims breakdowns).
  • Financial Modelling: Develop cash flow models; support bid budget management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Good working knowledge of NEC, ICE and ICC forms of contract.
  • Experience using Conquest or similar estimating software.
  • Analytical and numerical ability to evaluate detailed specifications, costs and risks.
  • Knowledge of estimating processes and best practice within a Tier1 contractor.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable: Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards one.
  • Desirable: Evidence of ongoing professional development in estimating, pre-construction or commercial management.

Location & Working Arrangements

The role is hybrid and based from one of our UK offices in Solihull, St Albans or Warrington. We welcome applicants from Tier1, Regional and Sub-Contractors.
