JSS Rail have seen substantial growth on Reactive works on the NW&C Framework. The JSS Rail business is looking to fill the role of Civils & Build Reactive Supervisor within its Core BU. The role will require leadership and management of a team of in-house workforce and subcontractors. Compiling relevant updates, reports and ensuring business controls are implemented and controlled throughout a portfolio of reactive works. This is a great opportunity for an operative or an individual looking for the next step, with wider exposure to business management. The Supervisor ensures that adequate and proper labour, plant, materials and subcontractor's resources are available to meet the requirements of the contract. The role will be based on route and will be based either at Solihull or St Albans offices and regular travelling throughout the route to scope, manage and audit the works will be required.

Key Responsibilities

- Liaise with the customer, their representatives, and other stakeholders on Operational Issues.
- Initiates valuable business relationships and works to ensure they are developed effectively.
- Proposes actions in response to changes in client and stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Manage Key-stake holders through the project life cycle.
- Manage a team of Geographically or skilled based operatives allocated to the framework.
- Ensure that adequate method statements and risk assessments (RAs) are completed by the sub-contractors and complete WPP/CPP & H&S paperwork as required.
- Set-up a Safe & Secure work site in accordance with Sisk Process & Procedures.
- Active involvement in HSEQS management on our projects and challenge working practices on site and across our business to ensure continuous improvement in line with our Zero philosophy.
- Plan and coordinate trades activities, Supervise and Manage all site sub-contract and works team activity and ensure competency of individuals carrying out duties.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Undertake Site Assurance Inspections.
- Arrange for the rectification of defects found & update the Client/PM.
- Manage and organize the issuing and delivery of reactive orders.
- Plan and arrange for all access and safety critical requirements.
- Ensure all reactive KPIβs are met.
- Attend site meetings, subcontract, and internal meetings - maintain and circulate notes and action points.
- Request outstanding information from the team and confirm all verbal instructions.
- Produce an achievable programme and monitor key milestones throughout the programme and report weekly to the client and your line manager.
- Escalation of issues in a timely manner to your Line Manager.
- Update internal system (Geopal) daily to ensure the clients system (Citadel) can be kept up to date.
- Ensure all necessary approvals are in place to allow works to progress without risk.
- Review buildability and identify methods of construction with commercial and Design to produce an achievable project.
- Identify non-conformances and implement corrective action.
- Inform the QS of any matter for which extra payment may be due or additional costs are involved.
- Close out all issues raised by safety, quality and environmental reports and audits.
- Manage the work team, Supervise and develop work staff and ensure competency of individuals to carry out delegated duties.
- Live the Sisk Values of Care, Integrity and Excellence and ensure that these values are embedded into all activities.
- Provide strategic business support to the PM & Operations Manager.
- Act as a Sisk Ambassador across appropriate external events.
- Lead and manage various sub-contractors and an in-house delivery team.
- Act as an Inspiring role model for the wider team / business.
Experience & Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with colleagues, clients and third parties, in a warm and persuasive way both formally and informally and able to alter style and method to suit audience.
- Proven track record of least 5 years within a construction management environment with a similar National/Regional Contractor, with a strong track record of the high HSEQS standards.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Organised with good time management and capable of proactive planning.
- Ability to get the best out of individuals, teams & Trade contractors and build consensus where differences of opinion arise.
- Ability to relate Company commercial strategy to own activities & Projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the trades required on site, the codes of practice relating to them and the requirements for them to be able to carry out required works.
- Delivery focused and driver of performance.
- Experience working on reactive frameworks.
- Computer literate.
Qualifications & Training
- Required
- Working towards an academic and or a professional industry related qualification.
- CSCS for Managers, SMSTS.
- First Aid at work certificate.
- CDM Awareness.
- Driving license.
- Degree or Diploma in a construction related subject.
- Personal track safety.
