This is a full-time, permanent position located near the city centre, Edinburgh. You'll enjoy a standard workweek of 35 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The salary ranges from £23,500 to £24,000.

What the job involves for a Debt Recovery Assistant:

  • The Accounts & Property Support Team is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations for our letting business to ensure all rent payments are collected and paid to our clients.
  • This is a highly varied role where you will be responsible for overseeing various activities throughout the office.
  • This challenging role will put you on the front line, managing the debt recovery process through various forms of communication, including email and telephone.
  • Ensure effective communication with tenants in rent arrears to collect payments in line with tenancy agreements.
  • Update the system to record cases of rent arrears and liaise with landlords and tenants regarding agreed payment plans or next steps.
  • Create reports for Team Managers and Department Heads to track open cases, highlighting cases based on tenant responses.
  • Arrange weekly review meetings to discuss next steps.
  • Organise doorstep visits for Property Managers to discuss arrears with tenants.
  • Raise cases with the Housing & Property Chamber First-tier Tribunal for Scotland and attend any case management discussions as required.
