Role Overview
An inspirational and enthusiastic Science Lecturer will join the Professional and Services Industries department to deliver teaching and learning across Levels 2-3 BTEC Applied Science courses. The role is part time, working 4 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Plan learning programmes for student groups.
- Guide students through the learning process and undertake assessment.
- Act as personal tutor, providing pastoral care and promoting attendance.
- Support students in obtaining suitable work placements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning, development, and review activities.
- Drive continuous improvement within the College.
Qualifications
- Teaching qualification (level 5 or above, e.g., PGCE, DET/DTLLS, Cert ED).
- Relevant FE teaching and assessing experience across BTEC levels 2‑4.
- Science‑based degree, preferably Chemistry.
- Experience of tutoring and pastoral care for 16‑19 in the FE sector.
- BTEC internal verification experience.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent.
- Desirable: Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
- Desirable: Certificate/Award in Internal Quality Assurance.
