Are you passionate about promoting a culture of reading and literacy? John O'Gaunt School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian to join our team in a permanent role. Working hours are 32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus 3 Inset Days (38.6 weeks/year). Pay Scale is NJC9-12, £27,254 to £28,598 FTE - this would be pro rata for term time only (actual hourly rate = £14.13 to £14.82).

As a Librarian at John O’Gaunt, you will continue to manage and grow our library provision, actively support our layered approach to reading, help lead on reading initiatives and interventions across the school, and you will work to enthuse students about reading. You will work closely with the SEND team, English faculty and Subject Leads to enhance students' reading skills and motivation and help us continue to build our ‘Reading is Power’ culture. This is a role that is central to improving the life chances of students by supporting all, regardless of starting point, to be more competent, confident, critical readers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage library operations and resources;
  • Promote a culture of reading school-wide;
  • Develop, deliver and support reading programs for diverse student needs;
  • Oversee, facilitate and track reading progress at KS3;
  • Organize and promote enrichment activities and author visits.
