Role Description The Slater role is a full-time, on-site position based in Aberdeen, working within a multi-trade property maintenance team. Day-to-day responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, and replacing slate and tile roofs on a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The role involves installing and maintaining roofing insulation, ensuring roofs are correctly waterproofed, and working safely at height using appropriate tools and equipment. The Slater will diagnose roofing issues, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and collaborate with other trades to complete refurbishment projects to a high standard. Accurate record-keeping, adherence to health and safety procedures, and delivering professional customer service are integral parts of the role.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Roofs and Slating, including installation, repair, and maintenance of slate and tile roofing systems.
- Candidates should possess skills in Working at Height, with proven ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and safety equipment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Candidates should possess skills in Insulation and Waterproofing, including fitting roof insulation, flashings, and moisture barriers to prevent leaks and improve energy efficiency.
- Candidates should possess basic Carpentry skills relevant to roofing, such as repairing roof structures, battens, and timber supports.
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in roofing or slating, or equivalent on-the-job experience, are highly beneficial.
- A strong focus on safety, reliability, and attention to detail, with the ability to follow company procedures and industry standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with other trades and interact professionally with customers.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites in and around Aberdeen as required.
