Key tasks & responsibilities:
- Ensuring the day-to-day running of the driver’s vehicle is carried out safely, legally and profitably.
- Fleet Maintenance – First use checks prior to commencing any job. Ensuring all assets are presented for maintenance as required by our Operators Licence when requested by operations team. Maintaining vehicle/trailer cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Driver Compliance – Ensuring compliance with tachograph law and working time directive. Highway Code is to be observed at all times.
- Flexible working hours – Standard hours detailed in contract. Overtime expected.
- Route planning – Route should be planned prior to starting job. Low bridges and weight limits to be taken into consideration. Most efficient, safest route to be taken at all times.
- Physical abilities – coupling and un-coupling trailers; ability to work trailer twist locks; operate sliding skeletals and working with curtain sided trailers.
- Experience in operating Containers or Curtainsiders is essential. ADR preferred but not essential.
