Class 1 HGV Tramper Driver - Flatbed Work based from our Longtown yard or Lockerbie yard. This is a proper trucking job.

Monday to Friday tramping (4 nights out), averaging 60 hours a week. Weekly pay, paid every Friday. You get your own truck with inverter and fridge as standard. Work variation with deliveries and collections all over the UK. You get left alone to get on with the job. We only use straps and ratchets (no sheets or nets). Full day 1 and day 2 training provided. Every truck has a TomTom truck satnav with live traffic updates. It is a secure job. We are in high demand from our long-term industry leading customers. We operate a modern fleet of DAFs, Scanias and Volvos. We are flatbed specialists and our drivers take pride in their work. For 45 years our service record has excelled and today we are recognised across the UK for our reliability and professionalism.

You will be pulling flatbed trailers loaded with sawn timber, precast concrete, brick and block, or steel. These are normally full loads (one drop) to builders merchants or direct to construction sites across the UK, from the highlands of Scotland to the South coast of England. Typically, once you have made a delivery, you will drop the empty trailer at a customer's yard, hook up to a loaded trailer, strap the load, then use the rest of your time to drive north or south, ready for the next day's delivery. Drivers are left alone to focus on their work when possible. So if everything is going to plan you will be left to get on with the job.

As a tramper driver you will work Monday to Friday, working between 58 and 65 hours a week. None of our customers are open on a Saturday or Sunday but there is the opportunity to go away on a Sunday if you want extra hours. All drivers are given training on their first week to help familiarise themselves with customer sites and to ensure they understand how to safely secure loads.

We have our own truck washes at Lockerbie and Longtown, and we have diesel and AdBlue pumps, so trucks can be washed and fuelled with ease. We have new shower and kitchen facilities at Lockerbie so that trampers have clean facilities to use when passing or staying at Lockerbie.
