We're looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our HR team based at Edinburgh Airport. This is a hands‑on role where you'll be a visible presence across our operations, partnering with managers and supporting colleagues on a wide range of people matters. This role is ideally suited to an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, is resilient under pressure, and has significant experience managing a high‑volume employee relations caseload.
What you will be doing:
- Providing expert advice and guidance to managers on a broad range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, and capability cases.
- Managing a varied and often complex ER caseload from start to finish.
- Developing effective working relationships with local Trade Union representatives and supporting the maintenance of positive industrial relations across the business.
- Supporting managers in the application and interpretation of collective agreements and agreed terms and conditions.
- Representing HR at consultation meetings and supporting engagement with recognised Trade Unions on operational and people‑related matters.
- Coaching and supporting managers to build confidence and capability in handling people issues.
- Supporting organisational change initiatives and consultation processes where required.
- Ensuring HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation, collective agreements, and company policy.
- Analysing people trends and identifying opportunities to improve employee engagement, attendance, and performance.
- Building strong working relationships with operational teams through a highly visible on‑site presence.
- Driving Employee Engagement at all levels, enabling a culture of trust, respect and equal opportunities for all.

You will have a responsibility and duty whilst at work to take reasonable care of the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others in accordance with provided information, training, and workplace health and safety rules or procedures. About you:
- Has proven experience in an HR Advisor or similar HR generalist role.
- Is confident managing a high-volume employee relations caseload independently.
- Is able to provide a clean basic DBS check, full 5 year employment history for referencing purposes and proof of right to work in the UK.
- Has experience working within a unionised environment and understands the importance of constructive employee and industrial relations.
- Has experience building and maintaining effective relationships with Trade Union representatives and employee representatives.
- Demonstrates a sound understanding of collective agreements and their practical application within the workplace.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Is resilient, pragmatic, and comfortable working in a demanding operational environment.
- Has strong influencing and coaching skills and can challenge constructively when required.
- Builds credibility quickly and develops effective relationships with managers at all levels.
- Enjoys being present within the business and understands the value of face‑to‑face support.
- Is organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
- Has a CIPD qualification (or is working towards one) (desirable).
