John McGeady Ltd is looking for a skilled Bid Writer to join our team in the civil engineering, resurfacing, and plant hire sector. You'll write compelling, high-quality bids and tender proposals, ensuring all submissions meet client requirements and are delivered to a high standard and on time.

Reports to: Bid Manager
Key responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality, tailored bid submissions in response to client requests, tenders, and proposals.
- Ensure all bids meet client requirements and are submitted on time.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather the information needed for each submission.
- Craft clear, persuasive, and accurate content that showcases the company's capabilities, experience, and strengths.
- Review and edit submissions for clarity, consistency, and quality.
- Play a key role in managing the bid process end to end, from preparation through to submission and follow-up, working alongside the Bid Manager and wider team.
What you'll need
- Proven experience in bid writing or proposal preparation, ideally in construction, civil engineering, or plant hire.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a knack for producing clear, persuasive documents.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of bid management software.
Nice to have
- A degree or qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with tender portals and electronic bid submission systems.
- Knowledge of the plant hire industry and its regulations.
