As a Skilled Machine Operative, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of machinery within the production area. Your role is to ensure equipment operates smoothly, maintains optimal performance, and is cleaned and maintained to a high standard. You will also play a key part in achieving production targets, upholding product quality, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Hours of work for this role are Sunday β Thursday night 9.30pm β 6.00am. Earn up to Β£37,500 Main Responsibilities: Operate machinery effectively to support the production of high-quality products. Monitor equipment output and promptly report any performance issues or faults to your supervisor. Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of machine faults, escalating when necessary. Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity. Meet or exceed daily production targets in line with departmental goals. Conduct safety checks in compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain consistent product quality by monitoring and adjusting machine controls. Keep the work area clean and organized in accordance with hygiene and safety standards. Immediately report any non-conformances or quality issues to management. Train new machine operators to company standards and support ongoing skills development. Demonstrate a proactive approach to Health & Safety by role modelling safe behaviours, identifying and correcting unsafe conditions, and supporting team members when needed. Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP), hygiene standards, and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Actively participate in team efforts, contributing to the achievement of business and departmental objectives. Accurately record downtime and raw material usage in a timely manner. Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy items (up to 25kg or more). Contribute to a self-managed team culture, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and workplace standardss This list outlines the primary duties of the Skilled Machine Operative role. Essential Criteria; Understanding of health & safety standards Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Knowledge of hygiene and PPE protocols Minimum 1 year operating machinery and running a production line Ability to operate, clean, and maintain machinery Basic fault-finding skills Strong attention to detail and quality control Capable of meeting production targets and deadlines Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work effectively as part of a team Physically fit and capable of lifting loads in excess of 25kg Excellent level of written and spoken English Desirable Criteria; Basic education (GCSEs or equivalent preferred) Mechanical or technical qualification (desirable but not essential) Experience in food manufacturing on a large scale No company sponsorship is available to overseas applicants for this position.
