As our Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will be supported through our 3-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Once you're fully trained, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' door and installing the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew.

Due to the nature of these roles, we require all applicants to be 18 or over by their start date.

In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £2.75 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service is your number one priority.
  • Perform daily checks and assist in loading your vehicle with the daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
  • Show great respect and courtesy for the customer's home, and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Installing various products (including wall-mount TVs, integrated appliances, and hard-wired appliance installations) efficiently and quickly for our customers, demonstrating how they work once installed.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
  • Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • It is important to note that the completion of the 90-day programme will be based on the individual’s input into the programme and may vary based on training needs.
  • This role involves heavy lifting: You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
Essential skills/experience you'll need
  • UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.
Desirable skills/experience you may have
  • Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
  • Previous role model or team leader experience.

Pay: £30,000.00 - £37,700.00 Annual

Hours of Work: 4 days per week, 5 week rota. Monday-Saturday 06:00-17:00.
