Overview
As a Supermarket Assistant, you will help our customers experience excellent service and passion for food at every visit.
You will support Partner-led service to ensure smooth operation and positive impressions of the Waitrose brand, helping customers trust and return.
Responsibilities
- Stock replenishment—keeping shelves full and products in the right place for customers.
- Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery to customers' doors.
- Reducing waste by following product due diligence and markdown processes for items nearing their sell-by dates.
- Collaborating with the wider shop team to support operations, including checkout assistance, Click & Collect, and fulfilling on-demand orders.
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
Qualifications
- Essential skills: Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
- Desirable: Experience in a customer-facing role; up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends; flexible approach to support the whole branch.
- Role Details
- Night premium is paid for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00 (£3.75 per hour). This also applies to existing Partners enrolled on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
- Age requirement: Applicants must be 18 years or over.
- Pay: £13.00 per hour (£13.25 after 90 days).
- Contract Type: Temporary.
- Hours: Part-time, 28.5 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 20:00 – 06:00.
- Job Level: Partnership Level 10.
- Location: Wellington (Waitrose & Partners), 34-46 High Street, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 8SX.
